Toyota Kirloskar Motor bags “Healthy Workplace Award – Platinum 2017’


Recognized for Toyota’s commitment towards Health and Wellness of its Employees

Toyota’s Health and wellness program is based on three key pillars of - A healthy person, healthy process and healthy environment

Bengaluru, 15th November, 2017:Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has been awarded the prestigious “Healthy Workplace Award- Platinum 2017”- the highest level of recognition in the category, by Arogya World India Trust in association with Public Health Foundation of India. The award acknowledges the company’s efforts to exhibit leadership in workplace wellness and health management.Last year, Toyotawas honored with Healthy Workplace Awardin Gold category.
Mr. Sailesh Shetty, Vice President (Human Resource Division)- Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Dr. Kowshik Kupatira, Chief Medical Officer -Toyota Kirloskar Motor, received the award on behalf of the company during the Healthy Work Place Conference and Awards held on 9th November 2017 in Bangalore.

He emphasized that good health is good business and that most companies have started to realize that health is an investment and not an expense.
Toyota’s Health and wellness program is based on three key pillars of - A healthy person, healthy process and healthy environment. Over the years, the company has offered inclusive health and wellness programs at multiple levels with first level focusing on sports, second level on exercise and fitness, third identifies and prevents health risk factors and fourth level focusing on enhancement of health and productivity. 


Few of the unique healthcare and wellness initiatives organized by the Toyota includes an overweight and obesity prevention program - LEAN Works!, pandemic preparedness and response plan, seasonal flu vaccinations, surveys on stress at workplace and  Aasare- free counseling service providing emotional support on personal and workplace issues, occupational health assessment etc. Programs are also conducted aiming to facilitate employee engagement, creating excellence in work place environment and motivating workers through initiatives such as, Yasusa- Do easy work, and People Connect- theme based group discussion. Ekiden- a unique relay marathon and use of bicycles in the campus thereby, helping to maintain a physically fit body in a sound mind.
To share an insight on the selection criteria, the gold level Healthy Workplace achievement is a necessary pre-requisite for companies to be invited by Arogya World to participate in the Platinum exercise. This “By Invitation Only” effort scores each company's leadership and commitment to workplace health wherein specific data on employee engagement, participation with outcomes from workplace health programs including non-communicable disease (NCD) prevention programs, mental health programs and community health programs, are desired for. Relevant cost and year-on-year biometric screening trends are also scrutinized.
Arogya World is a global non-profit working to prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs) through health education and lifestyle change. In 2016, Arogya World initiated a new Platinum Award level to increase the emphasis on health metrics tracking within companies in India.
