First ever musical reality show where ‘tradition meets trends’ – Om Shanti Om.

Unveiling on 28th August at 6pm, the show will air every Saturday and Sunday 9pm onwards only on STAR BHARAT.

September  2017, Mumbai:The world is basking in love affair with rich Indian traditions. Be it yoga, Ayurveda, meditation, cotton etc. India is truly taking centre in world stage. But ironically, Devotional songs/Bhakti genre is now merely confined to caller tunes. How do we keep this genre alive and relevant in today’s times?

In bringing about this change, Star Bharat’s philosophy of challenging the norms and moving forward fearlessly is a perfect match. Their latest offering in Hindi General Entertainment space brings to its vast audience a show which is determined to give devotional music a cool quotient – ‘a show format never explored and a genre unheard of’.

Om Shanti Om, is a musical stage of rare blend of tradition and trends, where contestants will re-invent known devotional songs that appeal to modern India. Each episode of the show will have contestantssinging a familiar devotional song in a re-arranged form which will test their versatility. This will be first time that TV shall witness a genre not just being

re-kindled but re-invented.

The show that boasts of many firsts on Indian Television will also see the debut of the epitome of devotion PP Swami RamdevJi as ‘Maha Guru’ on television. The show will also have country’s top Bollywood names and singers extraordinaire – Sonakshi Sinha, ShekharRavjiani and Kanika Kapoor. AparshaktiKhurana will be seen as a host on the show. The set of the show has been designed by none other than Bollywood best Omang Kumar.

Produced by Colosseum, the show will present 14 participants who will lend their voices to the all re-arranged devotional musiccomposed by Bollywood famous music composer Aditya Pushkarna. A special episode will be aired to commemorate the launch of Star India’s new channel Star Bharat on Monday, 28th August 2017 from 6pm to 8pm. The show will be aired every Saturday and Sunday at 9pm. Om Shanti Om will be the ultimate torch bearer of ‘trenditional’ music in India.

ShekarRavjiani who will be seen judging the show, said “When I heard the concept, I was amazed. This is the first time, where devotional songs will be sung in the rearranged version on national television. Star Bharat as a channel is redefining the genre of music reality shows on Indian Television with Om shanti Om.”

Excited Kanika Kapoor said, “I am very excited to be the part of the show.  As a trained classical music singer under the able hands of industry’s best Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalotaji, I wish to focus on the technicalities as well as the vocals of all the lovely contestants. With me as a judge on the show, I look forward to contributing immensely to devotional music that is the heart and soul of India.”
